One of my students using the block bin as a car. This is the same student who I saw sliding around in the top to a boat motor.
How many people can you fit on a snow machine?
Sunset over the snow hills created by the construction people. The kids use it as a huge slide.
Mini-me snow machine! The parents were following them slowly all around the slough in front of our house. Adorable!
Last Wednesday we got a call around 7 am saying there was no school because of a blizzard. This morning, at 7:02am, we got a call saying there would be no school today because of a blizzard. Didn't we just go through this! I was woken up in the wee hours by wind, and I thought maybe we'd have a delay, but it is a full-blown day off. The weather has been going up and down all day and now it's 43 degrees, sunny, and rainy. It's still a bit windy though. Mother Nature can't quite seem to make up her mind.
The school board decided whether or not school will be held because of the weather. The school board calls the principal, and then there is a Phone Tree for school closures or 10:00 start. My roommates were hoping to go to school until noon, that way we could just have a half day of school and not worry about making it up on a Saturday. We were grumbling about not having a weekend to look forward to, but our principal made an announcement over the VHF saying that we will not be having our makeup day this Saturday (which is fantastic). Only having Sunday for a "weekend" does not make for happy Tundra teachers. We are hassled by kids constantly (peeking through our windows at night) and need our breaks when we can!
My roommates and I are just hanging out at the house today. We might head over to the school to pick up the projector to watch some movies, but that all depends on which one of us wants to brave the weather and head over. It's hard to leave the warm nest when it's a blustery day outside of your window. Although we do feel a few breezes every so often through the one inch gap all around our back door.
